User Ratings and Reviews

4 Stars Hellboy?
Special effects and characterizations are absolutely amazing – but leave one asking if the director’s involvement in Pan’s Labyrinth has caused this comic book superhero’s launch into an unnatural realm for the true character of the scripted superhero that is Hellboy.

5 Stars WAW what a movie!!!
To anyone who loves sci-fi this is one movie you want to have in your collection asap. I bought this movie just because i have the first one, but I ended liking this movie much more than many of the ones I have. I would recomend this movie to all!!!

5 Stars Its nice to see some Co. thgat are out to earn money and respect
All I can say about this movie is about its format. Its a good movie in my opinion so enough said there. What I like is Motion Picture Companies know there are a wide group of people out there that preferr Full Screen to Wide Screen. Wide Screen is only good if you can afford Wide Screen TV’s, Amazon.ca also seem to know this and they make it available both ways. Stores in my area like to let on some movies did not come out in Full Screen. Thats when I produce my copy and shoe them they are full of it. Hats off to the part of the industry that wants to sell their product to everyone. To the Companies that are to cheap to make copies of the film in both formats, its your fincial loss, cause Myself I try to avoid buying movies that will only come in wide screen.

I do have one question though concerning Blue ray. I recently purchase a DVD, HD-DVD and Blue ray combo player. I’m beginning to think it was a waste of money, because I refuse to waste my money in Blue ray movies if they are all a wide screen format. Has anyone been able to find a Blue ray movie in Full Screen that wasn’t made ages ago. Got off the topic some did’t I.

4 Stars Great production and some entertaining moments
OK, this is not a great movie, but it’s fairly entertaining and the sets and costumes are fabulous. There’s less wry humor than in the first Hellboy movie, but it’s still there and that’s good. Hellboy II holds your interest as the (fairly predictable) storyline unfolds, without taking itself too seriously. I gave it 4 stars, but it’s really more like 3.5 or thereabout.

5 Stars Hellboy II: The Golden Army
I really enjoyed this one. Some very good fight sequences. I would rate this one as good as if not better than the first Hellboy movie. I’ve watched it three times already. It gets a little better each time. I also discover more things I’d missed the last time around. Get a group of friends together and have a party while watching!!!

3 Stars Rent do not buy in Blue-Ray
I have this in DVD and Blue-Ray. Keep the DVD. The picture & sound is no different than the DVD. I watched this wanting this to make me smile. It never did. Rent this first & save some money.

1 Star disappointed
This might seem obvious to people who are tech saavy, but you can’t play Blu-ray on a regular DVD player. We were very disappointed to find out as we were so excited about watching the movie! Now I guess I have to sell the Blu-ray disc and get a regular one. Bummer.

2 Stars Great sound, poor video
Well, this was really a mixed bag for me. Top Gun was always one of my favorite movies growing up, and I’ve owned it on VHS, DVD, and now Blu-Ray. The lack of aspect ratio information on the box is quite telling, as there is no TRUE widescreen – all video is letterboxed, even on a 16:9 HD LCD TV. The “widescreen” is simply a cropped version of the full screen edition, with black bars. This was very disappointing to me, as I was hoping for some full 1080 F-14 action.

That said, the EXCELLENT DTS 6.1 sound track nearly makes up for the visuals. The encoding seems theater-pure, and is one of the best BD audio tracks I’ve heard. It’s really astonishing how defined the audio is, especially the spatial effects and rumble during the flying sequences. Simply superb audio.

Hopefully, Paramount can dig up a better quality version of the master and give us a TRUE widescreen, full HD experience for Top Gun. Until then, this is the best that we’ve got.

5 Stars All-time classic!
This is my husband’s favorite movie in the whole world, so I purchased it on new HD DVD for him for Christmas. I didn’t know that you have to have an HD player to play HD DVDs, which we don’t. So the movie is great, but please make sure you get the right movie format for your player.

5 Stars Great movie!
Great movie, especially for the airplane lover’s in your family. We bought this edition because it had the extra behind-the-scenes stuff and it was a hit.
